**Can I take lessons safely during the COVID19 coronavirus pandemic?
Absolutely. We offer all of our programs online to adhere to proper social distancing standards.
How do I get started?
Email, call, text, or fill out a contact form to reach Jennifer directly to schedule your FREE CONSULTATION. She will ask a little about you and your situation as well as your needs and goals, and after answering all of your questions, she will set up a time for the first lesson or baseline exam.
What materials should I bring to my lessons?
Always bring a notebook that is dedicated specifically to our work together, pencils and pens, a calculator, previous test scores, any assigned homework, and any text books if we are working on school subjects,
How long has Jennifer been working with students?
Jennifer started working with all types of students in 1996.
Does your tutors individualize the program for my needs?
Absolutely! Some strategies work almost universally, but many others need to be modified for each individual and his or her learning style. Jennifer uses her knowledge in psychology and counseling as well as her extensive experience to tailor each program to the student.
How many lessons will I need?
Each program is designed to adjust around the needs of the specific student. Without meeting with the student and learning more about the individual, it would be impossible to give an exact number of suggested lessons.
I have seen tutors advertising very low hourly rates. Why should I choose Kugler Counseling & Tutoring Services over any others?
You may be able to find tutors who charge very little for their services. Unfortunately, that is often an indicator of what they have to offer you in quality of education. Are tutors available in Northwest Indiana?

What if I do not live in Chicago or its suburbs or in Northwest Indiana, and I still want to get help from your amazing tutors?
Using a webcam and programs such as Skype and FaceTime, students from all over the world can take lessons with us.
What if I am not comfortable being on camera during a webcam lesson?
Some of our students choose not to be on camera during the lessons. That is not a problem at all. We do not have to see your face in order to teach you or even transmit the material we use between us. The choice is yours.
My friend and I are interested in taking lessons together. Is that an option?
If the tutor believes that the students are compatible and have similar needs, some students prefer to work together in small groups. Contact Jennifer to see if this is an option for you.
Are online lessons over webcam as effective as lessons done in person?
Absolutely! Lessons are still face-to-face through webcam programs such as Skype and Facetime. We are able to transmit lesson materials back and forth to each other through free programs. Online lessons allow you to have more flexibility in scheduling, avoid unnecessary commuting, and learn from the comfort of your home or wherever you have internet access.
Do you have a referral program if I recommend Kugler Counseling & Tutoring Services to a friend?

I do not know where to begin with preparing for my exam. It is so overwhelming! How can tutoring help me?
Our tutors will examine your skill level in each of the test areas, determine the strategies that will be most helpful for you in the timeline available before the test date, and reevaluate throughout the process. We will cover motivation, time management, prioritization, organization, and reduction of test anxiety as we navigate the test material. You will have a partner in preparation. Let us help.
I have a great deal of test anxiety. Which program will help me?
Whether you are preparing for a major standardized exam or tackling your course exams throughout each class, we will work with you to reduce your tension and fears surrounding testing.
I have had other tutors or test prep classes in the past. What makes your tutoring different?
We individualize our programs based on each student we encounter using our skills and decades of experience. We use creative teaching methods to present the material in a way YOU can understand. You may have had teachers who are very intelligent and know their subject well, but they cannot seem to teach people well who do not understand or love that subject the way they do. We work with our students until they understand each topic tailoring our methods to how they think and learn.
My child is incredibly disorganized. What should I do?
Not only do our programs aid in learning the material, but they also teach the essential skills necessary to become successful students.
I want my child to be home-schooled, but I am not confident in some of the subject matter after a certain grade. Do you help?
Yes! We offer individualized single subject and full curriculum home-school programs to help children of all ages and abilities.
Do you have experience with people with learning disabilities and ADD?
Jennifer works with students every day who cope with various learning disabilities and ADD/ADHD. In fact, she worked with children and adolescents in mental health hospitals and residential treatment centers for years, so she is capable and comfortable helping people with a broad range of challenges.
Why should I have lessons over the summer?
Continuing to learn over the summer will prevent the inevitable backslide that happens during the two and a half month break. Students can work with our tutors on the material they will encounter during the school year to build a strong and lasting foundation. Incoming Juniors should begin preparing for the SAT and ACT, and incoming Seniors should create their application essays and personal statements as well as perfect their SAT and ACT skills for the September, October, and November exams.
