“Don’t take for granted the things closest to your heart. Cling to them as you would your life, for without them life is meaningless. ”
– Notes from Nora “When it comes to life. the critical thing is whether you take things for granted or take them with gratitude.”
– Gilbert Keith Chesterton What is a great book you’ve read? How did it impact you? What did you enjoy about it? Share the title and author with the rest of us!
“When you recover or discover something that nourishes your soul and brings joy, care enough about yourself to make room for it in your life.”
– Jean Shinoda Bolen We all deserve to treat ourselves with love and kindness. Who better to recognize what we need?
How can you pamper yourself in the next 24 hours? “Don't Just
Don't just learn, experience. Don't just read, absorb. Don't just change, transform. Don't just relate, advocate. Don't just promise, prove. Don't just criticize, encourage. Don't just think, ponder. Don't just take, give. Don't just see, feel. Don’t just dream, do. Don't just hear, listen. Don't just talk, act. Don't just tell, show. Don't just exist, live.” ― Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart When we choose to share our homes and our lives with an animal, (the furry, feathered or scaled variety, not the party type) we open ourselves to caring for an individual who depends on us. We must think about someone other than ourselves, learning to become less selfish. We also gain possible affection and make memories. Even as our pets age and their needs change, we must adjust and quite frankly, cope with greater inconveniences. But caring for these creatures as they age deepens our own understanding and compassion of our own future needs.
How have your pets, past and present, changed your life for the better? Describe your favorite pet (or former pet). Think of a memory you cherish. |
